John N. Gilbert, Sr.
Founder of Gilbert Engineering
|
When Gilbert Engineering Company was organized
in 1926, the company began operations with
one used pickup truck, two wheelbarrows, and
a few shovels and picks. The founder of the
company, John N. Gilbert, Sr., also organized
a rock quarry, a concrete company and even
a restaurant following his philosophy of "if
you see a need, you meet it". The Gilbert
family has since divested itself of everything
but the construction company which was the
original cornerstone of Mr. Gilbert's endeavors;
however, the company is still located upon
the original site (of operations) in downtown
Statesville, NC. Now over seventy-five years
later, we are a leader in our area of industry,
staying current with developing engineering
and construction technology. Our core values
have withstood the test of time and have not
changed. Honesty, integrity, hard work, and
attention to detail?hile making the most
of up-to-date equipment, technology, and techniques…are
the keys to our long success. |
Today, the company is still owned and managed by the second and third generation of civil engineers who are designing
and building for the future. Gilbert Engineering Company is not large by ENR 500 or Fortune 500 standards, and the
management prefers it that way. We are selective in personnel, keeping quality at the forefront. We enjoy close
communication with our clients and we have an impressive ratio of corporate size to project size. Our experience
encompasses a wide variety of diverse projects.
The common threads through all of our projects are 1) the quality
of the final product; 2) the relationships we've built with our project teams - owners, engineers, subcontractors,
vendors, etc.; and 3) the demanding technical aspects of our work. This third point is where Gilbert Engineering
Company really adds value - we solve problems. We listen to our customers and go about making their visions reality.
Whether the constraints are time, budgetary, or engineering, we have the experience and commitment to make it happen.
